It’s not much, but it’s something! Enough to add to a salad.

For most of my life, I traveled for a living doing environmental work all across OK, TX, and La. I never had time to actually make a garden. I could create flower beds around the house because they didn’t take as much daily work, but I couldn’t make a successful garden. I’d come home and it would be full of weeds, dry, and wilted, and vegetables don’t bounce back as easily as cannas or other kinds of flowers.
This is one of the reasons I am so glad my life has slowed down. I was nothing but one giant ball of stress when I was a part of the rat race. Constantly fighting traffic. Eating bad foods. Always in a hurry. Never taking vacations (and when I did, I used it to catch up on the projects I needed to do at home.) It was a nightmare, to be honest!
Now? I can walk out onto my porch with my coffee, take a deep breath of fresh air, sit down and take my time preparing for the day. I can plan a meal and cook it from scratch. I can take a week to do a project that I would have used to try and do in a day. I’m not in a hurry. I’m not in a rush, and I love it.
This first harvest here is much more than just a few radishes. This first harvest represents my new life, and I’m thankful for it.
